Migos at university of utah redfest concert

By: Andres Alcantar

Migos performs at the University of Utah for the Redfest 2018 concert. The show is sold out and students excitedly await their performance. What some students don't know are some of the decisions that took place to put on this show. Including some of the other artists that were considered for the concert. The show is held once a year, right before finals in the spring. Gustavo Cordeiro, the vice-chair of concerts for student government shares what the planning committee decided on.

“So Migos was actually not our first choice. We went through several lists of artists, debated about a bunch of different things, considered a lot of different factors. Some names that we kind of pursued, Childish Gambino, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar.  We were looking at Post Malone for a while. But Migos turned out to be the best financial decision for the University as well as the most hype that we felt we could get for our dollar. So just worked out for us.”

Cordeiro says the campus event board was the main board involved with putting on the concert.

They handled logistics and talked to the U police department, emergency services, risk management and everything else.

He says the show was held outside to save some money on the venue, and put that money into bringing good talent to the U.  But the show might change in the future depending on the upcoming student body presidency. Redfest could continue to be a big yearly show, or there might be two smaller shows instead.
